Qualifying for the Ultra World Championship
Championship Categories:
At every tier of a championship event (National, Regional, and World Championships) there are two level of championship:
- Pro Championship Heat - Requires qualification to participate (see below for criteria)
- Age Group Championship Heats - Available to all competitive category racers
- Open Open/non competitive heat races are typically available alongside championship events, but are not considered championships
2024 National Championships
National Series are between 1-3 events, with no more than one each Sprint, Super, and Beast distances.

National Series Points Structure
All National Series of 3 or more races will use a simple points system to rank racers. The racer with the most points in their respective category at the end of the series will be the series winner.
Participation in three races* are mandatory (not necessarily finished) to be part of the National Series overall ranking and eligible for Prize Money (only applicable for Pro Championship category).
*If a Series is composed of less than 3 races, participation in all races is mandatory.
The same points system will be used for both Pro Championship and Age Group Championship races; however, points are not transferable between categories.
If two athletes are tied at the end of the National Series overall ranking, the winner is determined based on the final race rank.

Qualifying for Championship Events
Racers can qualify for the Pro Championship Heat at a given tier through the following criteria:
- National Series Race - Top 3 overall finish in the Competitive category of any 2024 race or a Top 15 Elite heat finish in 2023

Regional Championship - Top 20 Finish in the Pro Championship heat at any 2024 National Series race
Note: Due to the schedule change of the APAC Regional Championship, for 2024 ONLY: Top 20 finishers in any APAC Series race will qualify for both World Championships (Croatia 100M & Abu Dhabi World Championship) - World Championship* - Top 50 Finish in the Pro Championship heat at any 2024 Regional Championship race
Qualification is not required for Age Group championship heats.
*Excludes Trifecta World Championships and Ultra World Championships; see specific qualifying criteria for these unique events, below.
Qualifying for the Trifecta World Championship:
All competitive racers (Pro and Age Group) must complete at least 1 Trifecta in 2023 or 2024.
Competitive Racers can register for the event prior to earning their Trifecta, but must complete it prior to October 30th, 2024. Competitive racers signed up for this event who have not completed a TRIFECTA will be moved to an available Open Category heat WITHOUT a refund on November 1st, 2024. By committing to Pro or Age Group categories at this event, you are committing to completing TRIFECTA prior to the event.
(NEW) Open Category racers do NOT need to qualify for this event. All are welcome, whether you have completed a trifecta, or are just looking to race in beautiful Sparta, Greece!
Qualifying for the Ultra World Championships:
For 2024 we have simplified the qualification process for the Ultra World Championship:
- For the PRO Championship heat*, racers must have finished on the Top 20 (Elite category in 2023 or Competitive category in 2024) at a Spartan Ultra event
- For Age Group Championship categories, there is no qualification needed but a limit of 500 spots are available
- A priority invitation has been sent to all 2023 Ultra finishers and World’s Toughest Mudder Finishers (7 laps / 35 miles minimum) so they can secure their spot in the PRO Championship and Age Group Championship heats for the 2024 UWC. Other athletes are free to register in the remaining slots
*For PRO Championship heats, athletes can register without needing a qualification code to access this category. However, a control of the list of qualified athletes will be done prior to the event and all NON qualified athletes will be moved to the Age Group Championship heats
